Playtime (ages 0 - 6)

Playtime (ages 0 - 6) In-Person

Join us for a special program celebrating the importance of play as an early literacy activity.

Playing is critical part of how children develop early literacy. Playing, especially interactive play, nurtures oral language, which is the foundation of literacy. Children can try new words and communication strategies, listen and interpret others' words, and create meaningful stories with their peers. Interactive play also supports many other skills that are critical for children's development.

You'll find our 2nd Floor Program Space full of activity stations that are just right for babies, toddlers, and/or preschoolers.

Arrive when you can, stay as long as is fun for your child, and explore the activities at your child’s pace.

Please note that some activities may not be appropriate for children who put toys in their mouths. Adults must supervise their children at all times.

This free event is offered three times:

  • 6:30 - 7:15 Monday, Sept. 29.
  • 9:30 - 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30
  • 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1

These playtimes replace Monday Family Storytime as well as all Babytime, Toddlertime, and Preschool Storytime sessions this week.
